Profile

Joni M. Derifield, Attorney at Law

Background

I have spent the majority of my career—more than a decade—practicing Social Security disability law. I am a former attorney for the Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. I am now in private practice representing disabled people seeking Social Security disability benefits. This background gives me unique insight and expertise in Social Security Disability and SSI matters.

I have strong ties to North Central Washington. I was born and raised in Wenatchee. I went on to graduate from Wenatchee High School while simultaneously earning my degree at Wenatchee Valley College. After high school, I attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) before transferring back home to Central Washington University. I then attended Seattle University School of Law, graduating with honors.

I presently split my time between Wenatchee and Kitsap County, in the Seattle area. In my spare time, I enjoy all manner of physical activity—yoga, CrossFit, running, cycling, and hiking. I especially love cooking and spending time with my big dog.

Philosophy

I am a compassionate and understanding advocate.  My clients work only with me, rather than assistants, as I prefer to be a  “hands on” attorney.  My goal is to provide my clients the personal attention they need.
